Our Biomass Boiler
We have installed a GARN® Biomass boiler.
To continue to live off of the land we have chose to produce our own heat. The installation of a biomass boiler in 2023 was a perfect choice for the farm. This boiler will heat the agriculture and out buildings on the property for years to come. We selected GARN® due to its low wood consumption and efficient burn.
Construction
The boiler room, or "Garn barn" as we call it, is an addition onto the existing workshop. We removed the old outhouse and this picture speaks a thousand words of as found conditions.
Early Pour
A Early Morning pour finished off encapsulating the underground piping feeding the outbuiildings.
Barn Raising
We kept with the original timber frame design.
Thermo Efficiency
Closed Cell Insulation sprayed in to maintain heat and keep the buildings solid for many years to come.
It's a Wrap
The GARN® was also wrapped in a high efficiency insulation to maintain a higher temperature in the tank for longer periods of time reducing burn times.
